The BBC’s so-called radio player is a rather bloated (and not very browser-neutral) beast, and, being little more than a browser window in disguise, has an unfortunate habit of terminally interrupting your music or talk if and when your browser happens to die (although FlashBlock thankfully puts a stop to the number one cause of that particular occurrence). And RealPlayer itself isn’t a particularly elegant application when it comes to managing bookmarks.

But fortunately, another Dave has very helpfully collated a list of the BBC’s radio streams. After a few words with the BBC, he voluntarily decided to restrict the links to opening in a mini version of the BBC radio player, having previously provided links to the streams directly.

I, on the other hand, have no such qualms. I pay good money for my Radio Licence (well, a TV Licence out of which I get fairly little use, the BBC’s typical TV output rapidly sinking to ITV-level depths), and have fairly poor radio reception, so I do most of my radio listening online. And, whether the BBC likes it or not, The Internet Archive knows all: all-knowing list of BBC radio streams.
